The
bog woodland of Monadh Mor, situated up the hill from the school, is a
rare habitat for species such as the nationally rare Northern Damselfly
which I’ve placed in the centre of the design. Below this are two
wetland flowers, Marsh Cinquefoil on the left and Bog Bean on the right.
In the top left corner is the Temple – just one of many important prehistoric sites found around Tore. Top right is Kilcoy Castle. Kilcoy has the Gaelic meaning of ‘the nook in the hazel wood’, and as hazel is the Celtic tree of knowledge I thought it very appropriate to include it in the design. The two main land uses today are farming and forestry -The horse-drawn plough represents farming through the ages, and on the opposite side are coniferous trees. Over the centuries Tore has been an important transport link, and I’ve included the Black Isle Railway steam train, passing under the bridge that still stands by the Cotterton road. Finally, another important and beautiful example of local wildlife, the osprey, is included near the top. |
