Munlochy Primary School window, 2007/08
The left hand panel features a view of the village, looking west from the bay. It includes the old water mill, an important building from Munlochy’s past, with some of the buildings of the main street behind – one of these still provides an important service for local people as the village shop. Standing over these is the school spire with the restored school bell highlighted against the fertile fields of the Black Isle. As farming and forestry are the main uses for the land around Munlochy, I have included Hill o’ Hirdie Wood (home to the Clootie Well) in the background. In the foreground, some of the crops grown locally which would have been milled in the past, i.e. barley, oats, and wheat.
The right hand panel shows a view of the bay, looking east from the village. As Munlochy Bay is now a nature reserve, I have chosen to feature some of the birds which make it their home, i.e. a heron, curlew, shelduck, and oyster catcher.
