back-lighting for interiors.

My stained glass windows require back-lighting and are usually for architectural settings where natural light provides this. To enable me to exhibit my work in galleries, I constructed a lightbox for the purpose: My work was selected for the Royal Glasgow Institute Annual Exhibition 2008, and also the Aberdeen Artists Annual Exhibition at the Aberdeen Art Gallery in 2009.

However, to make the lightbox less dominant I needed to use a slimline version. The pictures show one of my pieces with a new lightbox using LED technology. This gives a more even light surface, radiates almost no heat, uses less energy, and is more reliable. The total depth of the frame and lightbox is only 60mm.

This piece is currently on show at the Scottish Society of Artists 113th Annual Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy Building, Edinburgh.

This project was made possible with financial assistance from the Scottish Arts Council through the Hi-Arts Craft Makers Award scheme.
